What our Development Editing Covers

The short answer is 'everything.' It covers the big picture of structure, theme, plot, point of view, characterisation, authorial voice through to the small but vital details that spell the difference between a promising writer and an accomplished one.

You will receive a comprehensive written report summarising what is working well in your manuscript and what is not working as well as it could be. We provide our practical feedback, examples and recommendations on how to make the changes. We will also gauge your manuscript's readiness for publication.

A telephone call (approx. 60 minutes) with our editor is invaluable to discuss the most critical issues, to answer any questions you may have, and to discuss the next steps.

What our Development Editing Does Not Cover

Proofreading.

Professional Fees

Like every writer is unique, every manuscript is a unique proposition.

Your book cannot, therefore, be placed into a pigeonhole and assessed as if it has the same characteristics of any other book of the same genre and word length.

To provide you with a firm quotation, we will firstly ask to inspect your manuscript, a few chapters is all we require. While the manuscript's word length is a factor, more important is the manuscript's general condition. Simply, the more editing and notations required, the more time it will take, and the consequent cost.

A couple of points to note:

  • Our fees are moderate - you will be pleasantly surprised when you receive our quotation.

  • We observe strict confidentiality and your manuscript will be 100% secure.

"I recently released my debut novel '25.12.74.' Prior to its launch, I sought the assistance of Lynne Lloyd from Lloyd Moss Publishing to complete a development and copy edit. Lynne did a comprehensive review and edit of my manuscript. Her professional insights delivered in a detailed report and telephone consultation were greatly appreciated and enhanced the overall story to another level. I found Lynne to be professional in every way and would most certainly utilise her expertise for future writing endeavours.

I can highly recommend Lynne for any of your editing needs.
